Objectives

  • As a Clinical Services Provider at MSI, your role is pivotal in delivering high-quality reproductive health services to patients in the assigned Clinic of Excellence. Upholding clinic policies, principles, and applicable laws, you will provide therapeutic patient care, ensure a safe and therapeutic environment, and contribute to the development of nursing care within the clinic.
  • Your attention to detail, excellent provider-client interaction skills, and good communication abilities will be instrumental in delivering services and documenting patient information accurately.  With a minimum of 3 years of post-graduation experience in a midwifery position, you possess the necessary expertise to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage clinical supplies and equipment effectively.

Overall Responsibility

  • Your responsibilities as Clinical Service Provider shall include;

General Responsibilities:

  • To give high quality MSIN focused core clinical services in the assigned Clinic of excellence.
  • To uphold Marie Stopes Clinic policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal and local laws.
  • Exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Show courtesy, compassion, and respect to all within the clinic environment, providing a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
  • To participate fully in MSIN Institutional strengthens and Capacity Building activities where appropriate.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Conform to the critical service standards established for the clinic and the medical team.
  • Provide therapeutic patient care in accordance with the patients care code, established by the physician, within scope of practice.
  • Assisting with and contributing to development of nursing care within the clinic.
  • Deliver requested service while counselling patients to full knowledge of service to be provided before uptake.
  • Assisting physician or other medical staff personnel with examinations and treatments by providing support to patient, chaperoning and other assistance as directed or required.
  • Within scope, evaluates patient’s condition by observing signs, symptoms, and reactions to therapy, to identify unexpected and/or significant findings, initiate appropriate emergency procedures, as necessary.
  • Ensure proper management and maintenance of all clinical supplies and equipment.
  • Documents patient signs, symptoms, observations, and therapeutic treatments to patient’s medical record.
  • Dispense prescribed drugs to patients with written and verbal instructions on usage.
  • Ensures cleanliness of nursing module, patient room, and environment and proper functioning of patient care equipment by visual inspection, routine testing, and other related methods.
  • Ensure proper sterilisation of clinic instruments on a daily basis.
  • Proper supervision of the IPO in maintaining the Infection Prevention policy.
  • Support in ensuring the adequate and time requisition of items, stock management and record keeping.

Communication and Administration:

  • Ensure formal communications with the various health partners are properly documented
  • Follow up on all client complaints relating to any of the MSIN services and make recommendations.
  • Make proper use of available information systems in MSI to facilitate service delivery & trainings
  • Assist the team with interviews relating to clinical issues to protect MSIN reputation.
  • Collate information/data on services provided in the field.
  • Manage and properly account for all MSIN resources and properties at the clinic.
  • Support the marketing team by providing technical advice to clients at the small and large group activations periodically.

Requirements

  • Current NMCN License
  • BCLS Certification.
  • Possess a minimum 3years post-graduation experience in a Midwifery position, in an established healthcare system.
  • Experience with working in sexual and reproductive and maternal health will be an added advantage
  • Have a clinical certification in Midwifery.
  • Must have proven experience to work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent provider-client interaction skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Articulate and analytical with attention to detail
  • Possess working knowledge of health delivery system in Nigeria.

Objectives

  • The Locum Laboratory Scientist at (MSI) is responsible for client-centred clinical services and laboratory equipment maintenance.
  • They ensure accurate testing, specimen storage, and compliance with protocols.
  • The role involves building partnerships, maintaining confidentiality, and generating demand for MSI services.
  • Strong communication and administrative skills are required to document communications, handle client complaints, and liaise with regulatory bodies.
  • The Laboratory Scientist must hold a recognized clinical qualification, have post-graduation experience, and be licensed and registered with local clinical professional bodies.
  • They should be motivated, empathetic, and capable of working independently.

Overall Responsibilities
Partnership and network building:

  • Encourage a commitment to accommodating clients’ special needs such as flexibility of workinghours.
  • Maintain strict privacy and confidentiality to generate demand for MSN services.
  • Have a public relations and promotional role with colleagues, NHS and the general public.
  • Timely collate and submit Laboratory reports to the centre team.
  • Monitor monthly client numbers and income generated and in collaboration with the centre teamsmake appropriate recommendations to meet income to cost targets.

Laboratory Scientist roles:

  • Welcoming, friendly, professional, and efficient atmosphere for all clients and visitor in the laboratory to always ensure client satisfaction.
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment (including calibration) in a proper working condition and prompt
  • report of any malfunction to the centre coordinator.
  • Keep record of stock, perform forecasts, and ensure reagents and other laboratory consumable donot fall below minimum level.
  • Perform regular Quality control on laboratory reagents after supply and before use.
  • Ensure specimen are obtained in the appropriate manner.
  • Provide timely and accurate result.
  • Ensure cervical smear specimens are stored and packaged correctly for transportation to theapproved cytology / pathology laboratory.
  • Maintain accurate records of all tests performed and the result of such tests.
  • Keep abreast with and ensure that MSN complies with latest developments in laboratory testing protocol in Nigeria.
  • Assist to provide counselling on core MSN Clinical services in the Laboratory.
  • Carry out any other lawful duties assigned by the Centre Coordinator.
  • Make proper use of available information systems in MSI to facilitate service delivery & trainings

Required Qualifications
To perform this role, it is essential that you have the following skills:

  • Must have a recognised clinical qualification in Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Must be registered with a recognised local clinical professional body in Nigeriaand of good Standing
  • Must be licenced and have a valid practicing licence
  • Must have the requisite experience to work with minimum supervision.
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification e.g. MBA, MSc, MA (desirable).
  • At least 1 year’s post-NYSC working experience in similar position.
  • Clinical Expertise: Possess a recognized clinical qualification in Medical Laboratory Science and relevant experience to work with minimum supervision.
  • Laboratory Skills: Proficient in maintaining laboratory equipment, performing tests accurately, and following laboratory protocols. Experience in quality control procedures and ensuring proper storage of specimens.
  • Client Interaction: Excellent client interaction skills to create a welcoming and professional atmosphere, ensuring client satisfaction, and providing counselling on MSN clinical services.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for effective documentation, formal communication with health partners, handling client complaints, and collaborating with the centre team.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for data management, report preparation, and utilization of information systems.
  • Attention to Detail: Articulate and analytical approach with attention to detail in performing laboratory tests, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Teamwork and Motivation: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, demonstrate enthusiasm, and motivate team members to deliver high-quality service and achieve results.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with the Council of Medical Laboratory Sciences of Nigeria and other relevant regulatory bodies’ standards and the ability to ensure compliance during routine assessments.
