Senior Internet Protocol Engineer
Job Summary
- The Senior IP Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, optimization, and advanced troubleshooting of the organization’s core IP network.
- You will lead critical infrastructure projects, mentor junior engineering staff, and ensure that our routing architecture can support current and future connectivity demands, including enterprise-grade fiber services and high-capacity data transport.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and deployment of scalable, high-performance IP/MPLS network architectures to support long-term organizational growth.
- Manage complex routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS) to ensure optimal traffic flow and network redundancy.
- Serve as the final escalation point for the NOC and Junior IP Engineers regarding complex routing loops, latency issues, or packet loss.
- Implement and maintain robust network security policies, including firewall configurations, Access Control Lists (ACLs), and protection against DDoS attacks.
- Monitor core bandwidth utilization and perform proactive upgrades to hardware and software to prevent network saturation.
- Establish and enforce strict technical standards for network documentation, including updated topology maps and configuration backups.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in IP engineering within the ISP or telecommunications sector.
Technical Proficiency:
- Expert-level knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and VLAN configuration.
- Hands-on experience with major enterprise routing/switching hardware (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, or Huawei).
- Professional-level networking certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCIE or JNCIP/JNCIE) are highly preferred.
- Core Competencies:
- Ability to diagnose and resolve systemic network issues under extreme pressure without compromising service stability.
- Passion for training and developing Junior IP Engineers, ensuring the entire team grows in technical capability.
- Ability to translate complex network constraints into clear business requirements for non-technical stakeholders or senior leadership.
