Job Summary

• The University Librarian is responsible for the overall management, development, and administration of the University Library in alignment with the University’s vision and mission.

Responsibilities

The University Librarian shall:

• Provide strategic leadership in the planning, development and management of library and information services.
• Support teaching and research through effective acquisition, organization, and dissemination of information resources.
• Manage library staff, budget, and facilities efficiently.
• Oversee digital, electronic, and ICT-based library solutions.
• Uphold ethical standards consistent with the University’s vision and mission.
• Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor and Council

Requirements

Candidate should:

• Possess a good honours degree and a Master’s degree In Library and Information Science or related discipline from a recognized University (PhD is an added advantage).
• Be duly certified and registered with the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN)
• 10 – 15 years cognate professional experience, preferably in a university Ilbrary environment.
• Provide strong evidence of a substantial number of scholarly publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
• Demonstrate sound knowledge of modern library technologies, digital repositories, and information management systems.
• Be not below the rank of University Deputy Librarian or its equivalent in a university or comparable institution
• Be of a proven Integrity, strong moral character, committed to the University’s vision and mission.

Tenure

• The appointment shall be for a term of five (5) years, renewable, subject to the University Law, Statutes, and Conditions of Service.
