Janitor / Cleaner
The janitor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and safety within assigned premises, including offices, schools, hospitals, or commercial facilities. The role ensures a clean and sanitary environment by performing routine cleaning tasks, managing waste disposal, and reporting maintenance issues, contributing to a safe and organized workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Clean and maintain floors, walls, windows, restrooms, and common areas using appropriate tools and cleaning agents.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish surfaces to maintain cleanliness standards.
- Empty trash bins, dispose of waste responsibly, and maintain cleanliness of disposal areas.
- Replenish restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Monitor cleaning equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Maintain storage areas for cleaning supplies in an organized and safe manner.
- Assist with setup and cleanup for events or special activities within the premises.
- Follow safety guidelines, use protective gear, and handle cleaning chemicals responsibly.
- Report hazards, broken equipment, or safety concerns to supervisors promptly.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with staff, visitors, or clients.
Requirements:
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills; secondary education is an advantage.
- Previous experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or cleaning services preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, hygiene standards, and safe handling of cleaning agents.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks.
