Internal Control Officer
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct periodic reviews and testing of financial and operational controls to assess effectiveness, compliance, and risk management.
- Identify, document, and support the remediation of control weaknesses through the development and implementation of improved controls.
- Support the development and maintenance of internal control plans, procedures, and documentation, including areas such as business continuity and cybersecurity.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure controls are effectively embedded within business processes and systems.
- Prepare reports on control testing findings and monitor action plans to ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
- Participate in internal and external audits and support the strengthening of the company’s operational resilience framework.
- Promote best practices, standardization, and automation of internal control processes while staying updated on regulatory requirements and industry standards.
EDUCATIONAL & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
- Minimum of second-class upper degree in Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Finance or any related field
- Membership of professional bodies such as ICAN, ACCA and CIA
EXPERIENCE
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in internal control or compliance related roles
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent knowledge of the Nigerian Capital Market and Financial Services Sector
- Strong understanding of internal control concepts and frameworks such as COSO
- Business improvement and process mapping skills
- Ability to develop controls to block leakages within organizational set-up
- Strong Analytical and Numerical skills
- Attention to details
- Strong communication, written and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Data Analytics skill/Proficient use of Microsoft Excel & Power Point
