Finance Officer
Job Purpose
The Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the Company\\\’s financial operations by ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, processing payments, monitoring budgets, managing payroll inputs, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with statutory and internal financial requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations
- Process and record financial transactions accurately and timely.
- Prepare payment schedules and ensure proper documentation for all expenditures.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Monitor cash flow and maintain accurate financial records.
- Reconcile bank statements and company accounts regularly.
Budgeting and Cost Control
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor departmental expenditures against approved budgets.
- Track project-related expenses and provide variance reports.
- Support cost-saving initiatives and financial efficiency programs.
Payroll and Statutory Compliance
- Prepare payroll inputs and verify employee compensation data.
- Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions including PAYE, Pension, NHF, NSITF, and ITF.
- Maintain payroll records and employee financial documentation.
- Support employee reimbursement and expense claim processes.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist in preparing management accounts and financial analysis.
- Generate reports on revenue, expenses, budgets, and cash flow.
- Support audit exercises and provide requested documentation.
Internal Control and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
- Verify supporting documents before processing payments.
- Maintain proper filing and record management systems.
- Support internal and external audit activities.
- Identify and report financial risks and control weaknesses.
Vendor and Stakeholder Management
- Maintain relationships with vendors and service providers.
- Reconcile vendor statements and manage payment schedules.
- Respond to finance-related inquiries from employees and stakeholders.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy of financial records and reports.
- Timeliness of payment processing.
- Timeliness of statutory remittances.
- Bank reconciliation completion rate.
- Budget compliance and variance management.
- Audit findings and compliance levels.
- Cash flow monitoring effectiveness.
- Accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional certification (ACA, ACCA, ICAN, CFA Part Qualification) is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in Finance, Accounting, or a related role.
- Experience in payroll administration, financial reporting, and statutory compliance.
- Experience using accounting software and ERP systems is an advantage.
