Senior Finance Specialist
What will you do
- Senior Finance Specialist supports financial planning, analysis, reporting, and compliance within the organization.
- This role provides strategic financial insights to support business decisions, ensures adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements, and drives process improvements that enhance financial accuracy, efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
- The position requires strong financial management expertise, analytical capability, and the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
Job Duties
- Record journal entries, bank transactions, and other financial activities in the accounting system, ensuring accuracy and timely reconciliation.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with applicable accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP, and local regulations).
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and related supporting schedules.
- Monitor departmental expenditures and ensure compliance with approved budgets.
- Identify and implement cost-saving and process efficiency initiatives.
- Contribute financial expertise to cross-functional projects and business initiatives.
- Support the continuous improvement of financial processes, controls, and reporting systems.
- Assist with tax compliance, including VAT, withholding tax, corporate income tax, payroll taxes, and other statutory obligations.
- Liaise with tax authorities, auditors, and regulatory bodies as required.
- Monitor regulatory developments and ensure ongoing organizational compliance.
- Prepare audit schedules and support documentation for internal and external audits.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- BSc or HND in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required.
- ICAN certification, completed or in progress, is required.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles.
- Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
- Prior experience in a senior or supervisory role is preferred.
- Experience in managing tax-related matters and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with accounting systems.
- Knowledge of accounting standards, including IFRS and GAAP.
- Tax and regulatory compliance knowledge.
- Strong presentation and reporting skills.
