Night Duty Manager
Job Description
- As the Night Duty Manager, you are the primary ambassador of excellence during the overnight hours.
- You will oversee all hotel operations, ensuring the safety of our guests, the integrity of our financial reporting and the seamless delivery of five-star service.
- In the absence of senior leadership, you hold full responsibility for the property.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations:
- Manager on Duty: Act as the senior authority on-site, managing all departments (Front Office, Security, F&B, Housekeeping) to ensure brand standards are maintained.
- Guest Experience: Handle late-night check-ins/outs with a focus on personalization, resolving any guest grievances with “above and beyond” solutions.
- Team Supervision: Lead and motivate the overnight team, ensuring productivity and conducting briefings for the morning shift.
Financial Integrity:
- Oversee the Night Audit process, ensuring all daily transactions are reconciled, departmental accounts are balanced, and daily reports are generated accurately.
- Verify room rates, tax postings, and credit limits to safeguard hotel revenue.
Safety & Security:
- Conduct regular “Life Safety” walk-throughs of the property.
- Act as the Chief Emergency Response Officer in the event of fire alarms, medical emergencies, or security breaches.
- Liaise with local authorities or emergency services if necessary.
Communication & Handover:
- Maintain a detailed Duty Manager Log of all nightly incidents and VIP movements.
- Provide a comprehensive, high-level briefing to the morning Management Team to ensure continuity of service.
Key Requirements
- Education: A degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5years of supervisory experience in a Front Office or Night Operations role within a luxury (4/5 star) environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Property Management Systems (PMS) such as Opera, Cloudbeds, or Mews. Strong command of MS Excel.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional “emotional intelligence” and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Polished grooming and professional communication skills.
- Decision-making authority—the ability to think on your feet without immediate supervision.
