The Role
- Reporting to the Chief Medical Director, the Optometrist supports the daily care and management of patients in collaboration with the Consultant Ophthalmologist.
- The role involves actively contributing to the delivery of eye care services, including vision assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning.
- The Optometrist will also play a supportive role in supervising clinical activities and guiding medical staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct full eye health and vision examinations using advanced diagnostic tools
- Experience in prescribing and fitting corrective lenses
- Educate patients on proper eye care and visual hygiene
- Knowledge of vision therapy techniques
- Maintain accurate patient records in line with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Doctor of Optometry degree (O.D) from a recognized institution
- Certification – Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria; Certificate of Practicing License.
- Proficiency with the use of the computer.
- Candidates must possess NYSC discharge Certificate or Exemption letter.
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-NYSC clinical experience.
- Excellent problem-solving and clinical decision-making skills
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and a patient-centred approach to care
- Candidate must reside in Asaba or willing to relocate
- Highly motivated team player willing to go the extra mile.
