Chief Executive Officer / Managing Director

About the Role

  • The CEO/MD is SWIT’s principal executive – the single accountable leader responsible for driving strategic direction, commercial performance, and the transformation of SWIT into a revenue-generating technology powerhouse.
  • The successful candidate will be a strong technology leader with robust business orientation and commercial acumen who can open doors, close deals, and build the recurring revenue engine that underpins SWIT’s sustainability – while maintaining governance and rigorous oversight of its venture building and investment activities.
  • This role demands someone who thrives in high-growth environments, is self-driven and mission-focused, and brings a proven track record of delivering exponential revenue growth. SWIT does not need a strategist who cannot execute. It needs a builder.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Solution Delivery & Revenue Generation

  • Develop and execute a technology solutions strategy that delivers sustainable revenue and measurable commercial outcomes.
  • Lead enterprise business development: prospect, qualify, and convert opportunities across the OICL subsidiaries and external corporate, public sector, and institutional client.
  • Conduct technology needs assessments for client organisations; translate business requirements into packaged off-the-shelf or custom bespoke, deployable technology solutions leveraging OSV/OEM partnerships, system integrators, independent specialists and in-house capability.
  • Build a sustainable commercial pipeline of technology solutions, managed services, and digital transformation engagements that generate immediate and recurring revenue.
  • Manage and grow the company P&L, driving SWIT towards profitability and financial self-sufficiency.

Venture Building & Investment Oversight

  • Provide executive governance and strategic direction over SWIT’s venture building and investment activities including incubation, acceleration, portfolio management, capital raising, investment, divestment, investors relations, statutory reporting etc.
  • Identify and evaluate new venture investment opportunities aligned with SWIT’s mandate and the OICL sectoral priorities.
  • Oversee the Investment Committee process – pipeline evaluation, due diligence, investment decisions, and portfolio monitoring – ensuring rigour and consistency.
  • Nurture and support portfolio startups: connect them to resources, networks, and match-make opportunities that accelerate their growth and enhance SWIT’s return on investment.
  • Ensure the venture building architecture operates effectively, with appropriate specialist advisory support where needed.

Strategic Leadership & Organisational Transformation

  • Set and execute SWIT’s strategic vision, driving the transformation of the company into a high-performance technology solutions and venture organisation.
  • Lead and inspire the SWIT leadership team, building a culture of execution, accountability, and innovation.
  • Evolve the organisational structure to support the dual mandate as the company scales – including building out the solution delivery capability.
  • Serve as the primary executive interface with the Board of Directors; provide regular and transparent reporting on financial and strategic performance.
  • Represent SWIT externally at the highest levels – with the OICL, regulators, government stakeholders, industry bodies, development finance institutions, the tech ecosystem etc.
  • Engage in public relations, including evangelizing digital transformation and technology entrepreneurship through public speaking, thought leadership, policy notes, research brief, network events, seminars, conferences etc.

Partnerships, Networks & Ecosystem Development

  • Leverage a strong personal and institutional network to originate commercial opportunities, partnership deals, and investment deal flow.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with technology OSV/OEMs, system integrators, financial institutions, DFIs, government agencies, investment firms, venture funds, angel groups, media, universities, research agencies etc.
  • Position SWIT as the leading technology solutions and venture platform in Southwest Nigeria and a credible player in the pan-African digital economy.
  • Build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders – OICL, investors, clients, partners, government stakeholders in the Southwest states, tech sector and startup ecosystem.

Financial Management & Governance

  • Work with the CFO to manage financial performance, budget, cash flow, risks, tax etc.
  • Make high-level investment decisions to drive business growth, ensuring sound financial analysis, risk management and governance discipline.
  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant legal guidelines, regulatory requirements, corporate governance standards and applicable industry regulations.
  • Regularly review financial and operational performance reports; identify and act on improvement opportunities decisively.

  • Minimum 12–15 years of progressive professional experience, with at least 5 years in a C-suite or senior executive leadership role.
  • Demonstrable track record of driving sustainable revenue growth in a technology, digital transformation, or innovation-driven organisation.
  • Proven experience in high-growth technology environments – including scaling Business Units/Products, managing complexity, and delivering results under pressure.
  • Hands-on experience in needs analysis and technology solution design – able to engage an organisation, extract requirements, and structure a deployable technology solution.
  • P&L ownership and direct commercial accountability – not just strategic framing, but revenue delivery.
  • A first degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics, or a related field; technical certifications or a postgraduate degree (MBA or equivalent) will be an added advantage.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience working within or alongside a conglomerate or group structure across multiple industries.
  • Prior engagement with startup ecosystems – through any of mentoring, incubating, accelerating, investing in, scaling or advising early-stage technology companies.
