Technician – Heavy Duty Generators

  • A Heavy Duty Generator Repairer (specifically for 500kVA+ capacity) is a skilled technician responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial-grade diesel generators. These professionals diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix both mechanical and electrical issues in large-scale power systems to ensure continuous operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Repair: Performing routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, filter replacements) and major overhauls (engine rebuilding, alternator repairs) on 500kVA+ generators.
  • Diagnostics: Using diagnostic tools and laptops to troubleshoot fuel, cooling, lubrication, and exhaust systems.
  • Electrical Troubleshooting: Repairing and calibrating automatic transfer switches (ATS), control panels (e.g., Deep Sea Electronics – DSE), and alternators.
  • Load Testing: Conducting load bank testing to ensure generators operate at optimal capacity.
  • Emergency Response: Responding to 24-hour emergency breakdown calls to minimize downtime.
  • Documentation: Maintaining accurate service logs, repair reports, and part inventories.
  • Compliance & Safety: Adhering to safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, and ensuring compliance with manufacturer (OEM) specifications. Inchcape +5
