Storage and Infrastructure Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering design support to provide enterprise-level data exchange solutions using physical and virtual server hosting, off-site data replication and service level solutions.
- Provide in depth working knowledge of data center solutions specifically VxBlock technologies.
- Support implementation of Servers, Storage and Converged Infrastructures, VMware, and operating systems solutions to manage data centers for high availability and redundancy, backup and Disaster Recovery.
- Candidate will have daily interactions with clients related to meeting technical requirements.
- Domain knowledge and technical decision-making will have a critical impact on overall project implementation and execution.
- Evaluate, design, document, install, implement, test and perform problem isolation and resolution; monitor, tune, set standards and maintain a range of compute, networking, and storage systems.
- Candidate will perform functions across some, but not all, physical media, Operating Systems, File Systems, protocol stacks & network components.
- Provide client consulting and training on the design and use of the infrastructure, storage area network systems and architectures.
- Plan, research, evaluate and recommend new equipment and related technologies.
- Use monitoring, performance analysis, network management, software and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate problems; gauge performance and activity.
- Devise solutions to operational problems within the capacity and operational limitations of installed equipment.
- Candidate may develop and execute contingency plans for compute host system, storage, and network related software/hardware failures including isolated and major outages.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required Experience
- Advanced knowledge and experience with VMware (Design, Build, Operate)
- Knowledge of Integrated Converged Stack infrastructure i.e. VCE Vblock
- Knowledge with Large Scale Storage Systems (Design, Build, Operate) for Dell EMC, IBM, HP, Hitachi.
- Knowledge with Enterprise Servers (Design, Build, Operate) for Dell EMC, IBM, HP, Hitachi.
- Knowledge of IP Networking VPN’s, switching, and routing
- Knowledge and experience with Data Protection application and hardware; Data Domain, Avamar, Networker, Veritas NetBackup appliances etc.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
- Knowledge of Microsoft File Systems, Operating Systems and Applications
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft OS and Wintel systems
- Knowledge and experience with UNIX-based Operating systems; AIX, Red hat, etc.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment to produce outstanding results.
- Knowledge with documentation of design, system builds, configurations, and support procedures.
- Ability to communicate and present ideas to a client concisely.
- Knowledge designing, implementing and supporting converged infrastructure.
- Systems Engineering background with understanding of Cloud Computing Reference Architecture
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in relevant Field.
- Advanced Technical Certifications including knowledge of virtualization, networking, converged infrastructure, and compute platforms.
- Strong working knowledge of UNIX; AIX, Red Hat based operating systems.
- Strong working knowledge of virtualization.
Desired Certifications:
Relevant OEM certifications will be advantage.
