Solar Technician

Role Overview

  • The Solar Technician will be responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting residential and commercial solar power systems — with a focus on reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

System Design

  • Design solar systems based on load analysis and site conditions
  • Properly size panels, inverters, charge controllers & battery banks

Installation

  • Execute full end-to-end solar installations
  • Install panel arrays, wiring, inverters, and battery systems
  • Commission newly installed systems

Troubleshooting & Repairs

  • Diagnose and resolve issues quickly across system components
  • Identify performance losses and efficiency gaps

Battery Systems

  • Configure batteries in series, parallel, or hybrid setups
  • Work with Lithium, Gel, AGM & Lead-Acid technologies
  • Apply correct charging profiles and safety best practices

Electrical & Maintenance

  • Interpret wiring diagrams and comply with electrical safety standards
  • Perform preventive maintenance and upgrades
  • Use diagnostic tools (multimeter, clamp meter, etc.)

Documentation

  • Record all installation, maintenance, and repair activities clearly

Added Advantage (Bonus Skills)

  • Experience with mini-grids or shared solar nano-grid systems
  • Knowledge of smart meters, load control, and energy monitoring
  • Field experience in Nigeria’s power/solar industry
  • Ability to support or mentor junior technicians

  • Strong safety awareness
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Preferably living in Ibadan, Oyo State Nigeria or willing to relocate
  • Reliable, honest, and punctual
  • Willingness to travel for field deployments
