Site Engineer
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage on-site execution of major civil construction projects
- Provide expert technical leadership: Interpret complex drawings/specs, resolve advanced design-site conflicts, approve critical method statements, and drive value engineering for cost/time savings.
- Supervise, mentor, and direct multiple sites.
- Oversee full project lifecycle on site: From mobilisation, setting out/surveying, through concreting/reinforcement/structural works, finishing, testing/commissioning, to handover/defects liability period.
- Drive HSE excellence: Lead site safety committees, conduct risk assessments, enforce protocols, investigate incidents, and achieve zero lost-time incidents on large projects.
- Manage project controls: Monitor progress against baseline schedule (using MS Project/Primavera if applicable), control budgets/cashflow, track variations/claims, prepare valuations/certificates, and
- Prepare high-level reports: Daily/weekly/monthly progress, technical/commercial summaries, risk registers, lookahead programs, as-built records, and close-out documentation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve critical site issues (e.g., geotechnical problems, material failures, weather delays, labour disputes) with innovative, practical solutions.
- Contribute to tendering/pre-construction: Site visits, method statements, BOQ/rates input, risk identification for bids on new projects.
- Strong knowledge of concrete mix design, testing, reinforcement detailing, formwork systems, and quality assurance.
- Familiar with software: AutoCAD/Civil 3D (advanced), MS Project/Primavera, Excel for cost/progress tracking; basic Revit/STAAD if structural overlap.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams, motivate workers, and maintain discipline/productivity on large sites.
