Senior Project Architect
Job Summary:
- The Senior Project Architect plays a pivotal role in the design, coordination, and execution of architectural projects. This position requires a strong blend of creative and technical expertise to lead projects from concept through construction. The ideal candidate will manage design teams, oversee consultants, and serve as the point of contact with clients and contractors, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Documentation:
- Lead the development of architectural design concepts and translate them into detailed drawings and documentation.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of architectural presentations, working drawings, and construction documents.
- Ensure designs comply with local regulations, codes, and zoning requirements.
Project Management:
- Manage medium to large-scale projects or multiple smaller projects simultaneously.
- Develop project schedules, monitor progress, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants (MEP, structural, landscape, etc.) for integrated project delivery.
- Conduct site visits and monitor construction to ensure adherence to design intent and quality standards.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the firm and clients for assigned projects.
- Lead design and coordination meetings, incorporating client feedback into evolving project documents.
- Present design concepts and solutions to clients and regulatory bodies.
Team Leadership and Mentorship:
- Supervise and mentor junior architects and interns, providing guidance on design development and professional growth.
- Conduct quality reviews of documentation produced by junior team members.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
- Licensure: Registered Architect or on licensure track preferred.
- Experience: 4–7 years of professional architectural experience, with 2 years in a project leadership role being an added advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in design and drafting software: AutoCAD, Revit (mandatory), SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong understanding of construction detailing, materials, and methods.
- Familiarity with Nigerian Building Codes, Planning Regulations, and international best practices.
Soft Skills:
- Strong design sensibility and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
