Senior MongoDB Architect
Role Objective
- As a Senior Consultant at Vennote Technologies, you will lead a comprehensive Environment Assessment for a major Nigerian Telecommunications provider. You will be responsible for auditing a large-scale, mission-critical MongoDB deployment to ensure it meets global standards for performance, security, and high-availability (HA) in a high-traffic Telco environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Audit: Evaluate current replica set configurations, sharding strategies, and storage engine (WiredTiger) performance to identify bottlenecks.
- Security Assessment: Conduct a full gap analysis on Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), encryption-at-rest/transit, and audit logging to meet Telco regulatory requirements.
- Data Modeling Review: Analyze schema designs (embedding vs. referencing) to optimize for the scale of millions of concurrent subscribers and CDR (Call Detail Record) processing.
- Capacity Planning: Provide a 12–24 month growth roadmap, analyzing disk I/O, RAM utilization, and sharding necessity.
- Disaster Recovery (DR): Assess the efficacy of current backup/restore workflows and cross-region failover protocols.
- Executive Reporting: Translate technical findings into a strategic “State of the Database” report for C-suite stakeholders at the client site.
Required Technical Profile
- Experience: 8+ years in Database Administration/Architecture, with at least 5 years specialized in MongoDB.
- Telco Expertise: Proven experience managing “Telco-grade” data (High-volume, low-latency environments).
- MongoDB Mastery: Deep knowledge of MongoDB 6.0/7.0+, Ops Manager/Cloud Manager, and Atlas (if applicable).
- The “Assessment” Skillset: Proficiency with tools like mongostat, mongotop, and the Database Profiler to diagnose performance issues.
- Environment: Strong Linux/Unix administration skills and experience with containerized database deployments (Kubernetes/OpenShift).
Preferred Qualifications
- MongoDB Certified DBA or Certified Solutions Architect.
- Experience with Nigeria’s Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and its implications for database security.
- Familiarity with the Elastic Stack (ELK) for log monitoring, which aligns with Vennote’s existing infrastructure.
