Key Responsibilities
Electrical Systems Management:
- Supervise the installation, operation, and maintenance of all electrical equipment, including generators, switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, and protection systems.
- Ensure optimal performance and reliability of electrical systems to minimize downtime and maximize plant efficiency.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
Project Design & Implementation:
- Lead the design, modification, and upgrade of electrical systems and control panels.
- Review and approve electrical design drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with mechanical, instrumentation, and control teams to ensure seamless system integration.
Troubleshooting & Fault Resolution:
- Diagnose electrical faults and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Lead emergency response efforts for electrical incidents or outages.
- Ensure timely restoration of power and equipment functionality.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all electrical operations comply with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NEC) and local regulations.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and electrical hazard analyses.
- Promote strict adherence to electrical lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures.
Team Leadership & Training:
- Supervise junior engineers, electricians, and technicians.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and performance evaluations.
- Organize training sessions to enhance team competency in modern electrical systems and technologies.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain up-to-date technical documentation for electrical systems, maintenance logs, and performance reports.
- Support budgeting and procurement of electrical equipment, tools, and spare parts.
- Prepare reports on system reliability, energy efficiency, and maintenance performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (or HND) in Electrical / Power Engineering.
- Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in a power generation or heavy industrial facility.
- Proven experience with HV/LV systems, generators, and protection relays.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, MATLAB, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of control systems, SCADA, and PLCs.
- Professional engineering certification (COREN or equivalent) is a strong advantage.
