Senior Accountant
Job Summary
- The Senior Accountant will oversee core accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain statutory compliance, and provide reliable financial insights to support business decision-making. The role also involves supervising junior finance staff and strengthening internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts (IFRS compliant)
- Ensure accurate GL postings and account reconciliations
- Maintain proper accounting records and schedules
Budgeting & Performance Monitoring
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Conduct variance analysis and performance reviews
- Provide cost control and revenue performance insights
Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax laws (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE)
- Coordinate statutory filings and liaise with FIRS & State IRS
- Support external audits and resolve audit queries
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Implement and monitor internal controls
- Recommend process improvements
- Ensure adherence to company policies
Team Supervision & Systems
- Supervise and mentor junior accountants
- Collaborate with operations, procurement, HR, and other units
- Work with ERP systems (SAP S4 HANA experience is a strong advantage)
Requirements
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- ICAN (ACA) – Mandatory
- ACCA is an added advantage
Experience
- 4–6 years relevant accounting experience
- 2–3 years in a supervisory role
- Oil & Gas industry experience is an advantage
Technical Skills
- Strong IFRS and Nigerian tax knowledge
- Advanced Excel proficiency
- Hands-on SAP S4HANA experience
- Strong financial analysis & reporting capability
