Road Engineer
Job Summary
- The Road Engineer will be responsible for both the design and supervision of road infrastructure projects.
- The role involves preparing engineering designs, drawings, and specifications, as well as overseeing on-site construction to ensure compliance with approved designs, standards, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Road Design:
- Carry out geometric design of roads, highways, and related infrastructure.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.
- Conduct site investigations and review survey and geotechnical data.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, codes, and regulations.
- Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities, and design reports where required.
- Review and update designs based on site conditions and project requirements.
Construction Supervision:
- Supervise road construction works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Monitor contractors’ activities, workmanship, materials, and progress on site.
- Conduct site inspections and prepare supervision reports.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
- Certify completed works and recommend payments based on progress achieved.
General Duties:
- Provide technical support to the project team.
- Attend project meetings and provide engineering input.
- Identify risks and propose mitigation measures.
- Ensure projects are delivered within scope, quality, time, and budget.
