Operations Manager
Job Summary
- The Operations Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing end-to-end operational activities across multiple oil & gas project sites, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- The role requires strong engineering knowledge, operational leadership, and cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple onshore/offshore project sites.
- Ensure project execution aligns with approved scope, schedule, cost, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with Project Managers to track progress, milestones, and deliverables.
- Resolve operational bottlenecks and site-level challenges promptly.
- Ensure effective mobilization and demobilization of manpower, equipment, and materials.
- Provide technical leadership and engineering guidance to site teams.
- Review and approve method statements, work procedures, technical drawings, and execution plans.
- Ensure engineering solutions comply with industry standards (API, ASME, ISO, NACE, etc.).
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and OEMs on technical clarifications and variations.
- Enforce strict compliance with HSE policies, statutory regulations, and client safety requirements.
- Ensure all sites operate under approved Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Permit to Work (PTW), and risk assessments.
- Monitor HSE performance indicators and lead corrective actions for incidents or near misses.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project locations.
- Ensure quality control procedures are implemented and audited.
- Support development of project execution plans, schedules, and resource plans.
- Monitor KPIs including schedule adherence, cost performance, productivity, downtime, and quality metrics.
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly operational performance reports to management.
- Manage variations, claims, and change orders in collaboration with commercial teams.
- Manage operational budgets and ensure cost efficiency across all project sites.
- Track operational expenditure, identify cost overruns, and implement corrective measures.
- Support procurement planning and vendor management to ensure value for money.
- Collaborate with finance on forecasting, invoicing, and cost recovery.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, and site teams.
- Ensure optimal manpower planning, deployment, and utilization across sites.
- Identify training needs and support competency development for technical and supervisory staff.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, and high performance culture.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders.
- Attend project meetings, progress reviews, and site inspections with clients.
- Manage client expectations and ensure service delivery meets contractual obligations.
- Support business development by providing operational input for tenders and proposals.
- Identify operational, technical, and commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure closure of audit findings.

Experience
- 15–25 years experience in oil & gas operations or project management.
- Proven experience managing multiple project sites simultaneously.
- Strong background in engineering-driven project execution.
- Experience working with EPC, maintenance, fabrication, construction, or offshore/onshore projects.
Professional Certifications (Advantage):
- Project Management Certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
- ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor
- COREN registration (or equivalent professional body) is an advantage.
- HSE certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH) are an added benefit.
