Medical Laboratory Scientist
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in hematology, microbiology, chemistry, and serology.
- Collect, process, and analyze patient samples in line with standard operating procedures.
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results before release.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine calibration and quality control checks.
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control protocols, especially in pediatric settings.
- Document test results and maintain proper laboratory records.
- Collaborate with clinicians to support prompt patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Monitor laboratory inventory and report stock requirements promptly.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and child-friendly laboratory environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or related field
- Valid practicing license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN)
- Minimum of 2–3 years relevant laboratory experience (pediatric experience is an advantage)
- Strong knowledge of laboratory quality systems and SOPs
- High attention to detail and analytical skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
