Litigation & Investigation Officer

  • As a Litigation and Investigations Officer, you will play a critical role in supporting Ikeja Electric’s legal operations by ensuring the effective handling of litigation and investigative matters.

Your contributions will include:

  • Litigation & Legal Case Management: Support legal strategy development, prepare pleadings and court filings, manage litigation processes, and ensure timely court appearances for hearings, pre-trials, and trials.
  • Investigations & Fact-Finding: Conduct internal investigations, gather evidence, review documentation, and support case resolution through accurate fact analysis and reporting.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with external solicitors, regulatory agencies, and law enforcement bodies to ensure coordinated legal actions and effective representation.
  • Legal Advisory & Documentation: Provide legal research support, prepare opinions on liability and quantum of damages, and review legal documentation to support business decision-making.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to Quality Management System (QMS), Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), and regulatory requirements while supporting risk mitigation efforts.
  • Case Tracking & Reporting: Maintain organized case records, monitor litigation progress, and provide regular updates and reports to legal leadership.

Minimum Requirement

  • This opportunity is an Entry Level role, suited for Officer to Supervisor.
  • The scope of this position cuts across multiple business units and departments, requiring close collaboration with internal stakeholders, external legal partners, and regulatory bodies to support effective litigation and investigation outcomes.
  • This role reports directly to the Litigation and Investigations Lead.
  • Successful applicants will typically possess the following criteria:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from a recognized university.
  • Admission to the Nigerian Bar as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 4–6 years’ experience in civil and commercial litigation.
  • Prior experience within the energy sector or a top-tier law firm with a power/energy practice is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in legal research, drafting pleadings, and managing litigation matters
