- The Classroom Support Staff plays a key role in ensuring the smooth daily running of the classroom. The role involves assisting the lead teacher in caring for the children, supporting learning activities, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and providing general help that contributes to children’s wellbeing and development.
Key Responsibilities
Child Engagement & Learning Support
- Engage children in class activities, guided play, and learning routines.
- Support the lead teacher in delivering age-appropriate activities.
- Assist children with fine motor tasks, sensory play, early numeracy/literacy readiness, and hands-on learning.
- Provide emotional support, comfort, and reassurance to children.
Supervision & Caregiving
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, ensuring safety at all times.
- Supervise children during feeding/snack time, ensuring proper hygiene and encouraging independence.
- Support with nappy changing, toileting, and helping children maintain good hygiene.
- Assist children with changing clothes when necessary (accidents, spills, outdoor play, etc.).
Classroom Management & Cleanliness
- Help maintain a clean, tidy, and organized classroom environment.
- Set up learning materials and resources for daily activities.
- Assist in sanitising toys, equipment, and surfaces following school hygiene standards.
- Ensure toys and materials are safely stored after use.
Safety & Security
- Ensure children are safe during transitions between classroom, outdoor areas, dining spaces, and restrooms.
- Report any injuries, accidents, or concerns immediately to the lead teacher or School Director.
- Follow all health, safety, and safeguarding policies of Twinkly Tots School.
Teamwork & Professional Conduct
- Work closely with the lead teacher and other staff to maintain a positive, supportive classroom environment.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions when required.
- Uphold the school’s values, professionalism, and confidentiality at all times.
- Be flexible to support other classrooms when needed.
Requirements
- Experience working with young children (0–5 years) is an advantage.
- Warm, patient, and child-friendly personality.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physically able to bend, lift children, and support active play.
