Role Overview
- As the Executive Assistant to Surge Africa’s director, you will provide high-level administrative, organisational, and strategic support to the Director of Surge Africa. You will serve as a key coordination point, helping to manage the Director’s time, communications, and priorities while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. This role requires discretion, initiative, and strong judgment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct administrative and executive support to the Director
- Manage the Director’s calendar, scheduling meetings, appointments, and reminders
- Draft, review, and format correspondence, reports, briefs, and presentations
- Act as a liaison between the Director and internal/external stakeholders
- Prepare agendas, attend meetings as required, and take accurate minutes
- Track action items and follow up to ensure timely execution
- Support planning and coordination of board meetings, strategy sessions, and external engagements
- Manage confidential information with a high level of professionalism and discretion
- Assist with travel planning, logistics, and virtual meeting coordination
- Maintain organised digital filing and document management systems
- Support special projects and perform other related duties as assigned by the Director
- Other duties ancillary to the above.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience providing executive or senior administrative support
- Proven experience supporting a senior leader or executive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organisational, time-management, and prioritisation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Strong competency in digital tools, calendars, document management systems, and virtual workspaces
- Ability to work independently, anticipate needs, and exercise sound judgment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Interest in or understanding of climate change, development, or nonprofit work is an advantage.
