Junior Accountant
Job Description
- The Junior Accountant supports the finance department in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- The role involves assisting with day-to-day accounting operations such as bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll support, and documentation of financial transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Record daily financial transactions in accounting systems.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records.
- Assist in processing vendor invoices and payments.
- Monitor incoming payments and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Maintain records of supplier and client transactions.
- Assist in preparing monthly bank reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
- Support the preparation of monthly financial reports.
- Assist in compiling financial statements and management reports.
- Assist with payroll preparation and verification.
- Maintain payroll records and employee payment documentation.
- Track expenses and ensure they are within approved budgets.
- Assist in preparing expense reports and cost analysis
- Assist in preparing documents for statutory filings and tax compliance.
- Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and procedures.
- Provide support during internal and external audits.
- Prepare requested financial documents and reports.
- Maintain organized financial files and documentation.
- Assist senior finance staff with other accounting tasks as required.
Requirements
- Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Must have completed NYSC)
- 1-3 years of accounting or finance-related experience
- Basic knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations and tax requirements is an added advantage.
- Professional certification, such as ICAN (ATS level), ACCA (foundation level), or equivalent, is an advantage.
- Strong Accounting ethical standards and integrity.
Required Skills:
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
- Familiarity with accounting software
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
