Imports & Shipping, Documentation and clearing operations
- Documentation – Manage cargo documentation with documentation team whilst ensuring invoices and other shipping documents for inbound shipments – IRM, CAPEX and Engineering goods are in compliance with Nigerian regulations and company policies.
- Customs Clearance – Work with customs brokers or agencies to facilitate clearance of goods through customs and ensure smooth import processes
- Customer Support – Coordinate shipment planning and liaising with international vendors/ Import Mgr. and partners to address inquiries, provide shipping information, and resolve any issues
- Monitor vessel arrivals and departures, updating shipment records and database accordingly.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipment records, ensuring accuracy.
- Interpret Customs tariff positions and government fiscal policies.
- Obtain and verify shipping documents from suppliers, forwarders, etc., for timely cargo clearance.
- Participate in shipping contracts, Form M, LC processes, and policy formulation.
- Logistics Coordination: Coordinate shipping and transportation arrangements, including recommendation on selecting carriers, booking cargo space (for exports/ FOB), and tracking shipments
- Handle settlements for operational material damages in collaboration with relevant parties.
- Maintain organized records of customs documents, regulatory notices, and third-party documentation.
- Monitoring import costs, identifying areas for savings, and improving supply chain efficiency
Stakeholder Relations
- Collaborate with regulatory authorities (e.g., NAFDAC, Customs, NPA) for seamless cargo documentation clearance.
- Stay updated on market trends and contribute to the assessment of clearing and freight forwarders.
- Develop service level agreements for third-party providers and optimize their performance.
Key competencies

- Proficient negotiation and team management abilities.
- Knowledge of SAP is a plus
Educational Level & Skills required
- Must have: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Import-Exports/ Shipping/ Logistics, Business Management or Engineering or related discipline.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Working Experience
- Proven experience in export operations and international trade.
- Strong knowledge of export regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Familiarity with import/ export finance and payment terms (e.g., letters of credit, open account).
- Certification in import/ export management or customs procedures (desired).
