Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily piggery operations: Oversee the care and management of grower-finisher pigs, including feeding, health monitoring, and facility maintenance.
- Monitor animal health: Identify and address health issues promptly, working with veterinarians and other experts as needed.
- Manage pig movements and inventory: Coordinate pig movements, track inventory, and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain facilities and equipment: Ensure piggery facilities and equipment are well-maintained and in good working order.
- Implement biosecurity protocols: Ensure compliance with biosecurity standards to prevent disease outbreaks.
- Lead and train staff: Supervise and train piggery staff on best practices in pig husbandry.
Requirements
- Diploma or certificate in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related field: Relevant education and experience in pig husbandry or a related industry.
- Experience in pig husbandry: Proven experience in caring for grower-finisher pigs, with a strong understanding of pig care and management.
- Leadership and management skills: Ability to lead and manage a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Animal welfare and biosecurity knowledge: Familiarity with animal welfare standards and biosecurity protocols.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years experience.
