Job Summary
- The Compliance Auditor will work with the Legal Counsel and Manager, Internal Audit, to ensure that the company is adhering to all statutory laws and regulations, as well as enforcing compliance with internal regulations.
Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support in the performance of risk management and control over operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability, and compliance with all legal and statutory directives and regulations.
- To execute compliance and audit assignments according to instructions and in line with the approved plans.
- Reviewing all relevant programs and activities affected by industry regulations, including records, reports, and software.
- Analysing existing compliance records and making all necessary updates.
- Analysing potential risks within the company and its practices to avoid possible compliance issues.
- Support in the monitoring and periodic review of policies organisation wide and recommend areas for improvement.
- Conduct follow up with management to address procedures and practices that are not compliant with industry regulations.
- Tracking reported staff/company violations and the responses and plans.
- Ensure continuous knowledge and development regarding industry rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including environmental regulations, safety standards, and business specific policies.
- Establish a robust compliance monitoring system to track adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees about compliance policies, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Foster a culture of compliance through effective communication and awareness campaigns within the organization.
- Prepare and submit compliance reports to regulatory authorities as required.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of compliance activities, audits, and corrective actions taken.
Qualification:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance roles within the energy industry in Nigeria with Designate Compliance Professional (DCP) Qualification.
- Called to the Nigerian bar with a minimum of 5 years post-call experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Auditing and Finance.
- Professional accounting qualifications from ICAN, ACCA, IIA, will be an added advantage.
- An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the energy industry’s rules, guidelines, standards and regulations.
Competencies:
- Strong work ethics and time management skills.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and energy sector compliance requirements.
- Good communication skills.
- Proven work experience in Internal Audit functions.
- Excellent team player with the ability to work with a team to meet the corporate objectives of the organisation and communicate complex regulatory requirements in a clear and concise manner.
- High attention to details and excellent analytical skills, with the ability to adapt to changing regulatory environments.
- Proficiency in the use of Ms Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint etc.
