Irrigation Engineer
Job Overview:
- We are seeking for a highly motivated Irrigation Engineer to join our team of experts in the wheat cultivation project Abunabo in Jigawa State, Nigeria.
- The Irrigation Engineer under the supervision of the project manager will support the overall irrigation and drainage management component of the project and will be expected to perform the following key functions:
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze soil type, drainage and conservation problems; climate characteristics; water supply and flow; and other environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess project’s potential impact.
- Review environmental assessments, survey reports, maps, drawings, and other topographical and geologic data.
- Design efficient and cost-effective irrigation systems that meet all requirements.
- Prepare site plans, specifications, cost estimates and environmental impact assessment.
- Prepare project plans for distribution of water
- Monitor project site progress and ensure compliance with design specifications and environmental, safety and other government regulations.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors’ degree in Irrigation Engineering or related field
- Five years of irrigation experience required; field experience in agriculture irrigation installation preferred.
Skills
- Strong analytical, decision making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in geographic information systems (GIS) software.
