HSE Officer

LOCATION: Ode Remo, Ogun State
REPORTS TO: HSE Manager

Job Summary

The HSE Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures within the automobile manufacturing facility. The role ensures compliance with statutory regulations, promotes a safe working environment, and minimizes workplace hazards, accidents, and environmental risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies in line with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across production and administrative areas.
  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety laws and environmental regulations.
  • Organize safety trainings, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for employees.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses and prepare detailed reports with recommendations.
  • Monitor use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and enforce safety compliance.
  • Maintain safety records, incident logs, and statutory documentation.
  • Coordinate emergency response procedures, drills, and evacuation exercises.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities during inspections and compliance reviews.
  • Promote environmental sustainability practices within manufacturing operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Safety, or related discipline.
  • Professional HSE certification (NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) is required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ relevant experience, preferably in manufacturing or automobile industry.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Good analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and training facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
