HR Officer

Job Summary

  • The HR Officer will be stationed primarily at the mining sites, ensuring the consistent application of company policies and practices across daily Open Cast and Highwall Mining operations.
  • This role involves supervising workforce conduct, monitoring compliance with safety and attendance standards, and serving as a link between site activities and the Human Capital Management (HCM) Unit.
  • The officer plays a vital role in maintaining discipline, promoting safety adherence, and supporting workforce coordination during mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor personnel working in the mining operational areas to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct spot checks to confirm that assigned tasks are carried out correctly and that safety protocols are observed.
  • Enforce proper conduct on‑site, addressing or escalating cases of misconduct as necessary.
  • Participate in roll calls before and after mining shifts to verify attendance and manpower adequacy.
  • Ensure staff allocation aligns with operational plans, safety requirements, and manpower needs.
  • Monitor adherence to attendance and safety regulations within the mining environment.
  • Compile and submit daily and weekly workforce reports, with emphasis on Highwall Mining operations.
  • Support onboarding of newly employed site workers and provide orientation on company policies and expectations.
  • Assist in organizing sensitization sessions related to the ZCL Employee Handbook and workplace conduct.
  • Collaborate with Safety Officers and Site Supervisors during inspections or safety reviews.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the HCM Supervisor/Head – General Services.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related social science field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in HR operations, employee relations, or supervisory roles, preferably within mining, construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, or other high‑activity operational environments.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and workforce management abilities, with proven experience supporting field-based teams.
  • High level of attention to detail, confidentiality, and integrity, especially in documentation, reporting, and compliance monitoring.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with HR information systems or digital reporting tools.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in fast-paced, dynamic, or semi-remote operational settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse workforce groups, including technical and field personnel.
