Head of Department – Production

Job Summary

  • The HOD Production will be responsible for overseeing all production activities in a plastic injection moulding environment, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance with ISO 9000 standards, and meeting quality benchmarks.
  • The role involves managing and coordinating two shift in-charges to achieve production targets, optimizing processes, and maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • The candidate will play a key role in aligning production goals with organizational objectives and ensuring smooth collaboration between shifts.

Key Responsibilities
Production Management:

  • Supervise and manage production operations in plastic injection moulding across two shifts to meet daily and monthly production targets.
  • Implement production schedules, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient resource utilization.
  • Monitor workflow, resolve bottlenecks, and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and product quality.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and manage two shift in-charges to ensure smooth operations across shifts.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations of Staff and casual workers provide training and address any gaps in skills or processes.
  • Foster teamwork, maintain discipline, and ensure adherence to company policies.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure that production meets the required quality standards and specifications in line with ISO 9000 certification.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team to address quality-related issues promptly.
  • Implement corrective and preventive measures to minimize defects and ensure process consistency.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Enforce compliance with workplace safety standards and regulations.
  • Ensure that all production equipment is well-maintained.
  • Address safety hazards immediately and promote a culture of safety awareness.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit daily production reports to the Production Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including output, downtime, maintenance schedules, and ISO 9000 documentation.
  • Analyse production data to identify trends and provide recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications and Skills
Education:

  • Postgraduate or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Management, or a related field.
  • Qualifications of Certificate course of ISO9000 QMS auditor is a Plus

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in production management, with at least 5 years in a managerial role within plastic injection moulding company.
  • Proven experience managing shifts and leading teams in an ISO 9000-certified manufacturing/production environment.

Key Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of plastic injection moulding processes, production planning, and quality control.
  • Proficiency in production management tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 standards and their implementation in production processes.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
