Job Overview
The Executive Director / Chief Operating Officer will provide strategic and executive oversight of the Bank’s end-to-end operations. The role is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, service excellence, process optimisation, and execution discipline in alignment with the Bank’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate as a Board member in shaping strategic direction and operational priorities.
- Translate Board-approved strategy into executable operational plans across branches and channels.
- Provide executive oversight of branch operations, back-office functions, credit processing, service delivery, and shared services.
- Ensure efficient execution of asset origination, documentation, servicing, and recovery processes.
- Drive process automation, digitisation, and operational innovation to improve turnaround times and customer experience.
- Strengthen operational risk management, internal controls, and policy adherence.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and support regulatory examinations.
- Oversee business continuity, disaster recovery, and operational resilience frameworks.
- Manage operational budgets, cost optimisation, and efficiency metrics.
- Provide executive leadership to operations teams, ensuring strong performance management and succession planning.
- Represent operations in Board, regulatory, and stakeholder engagements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline. MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification highly desirable.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies (CIBN, ICAN/ANAN or equivalent).
- Minimum of 12–18 years’ experience in banking or financial services. At least 5–7 years in senior management or executive leadership roles.
- Strong exposure to mortgage operations, branch management, digital banking initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of operational risk management frameworks and internal control systems.
- Proven ability to lead multi-location teams and drive operational transformation.
