Executive Associate to the CEO

ROLE CONTEXT

AMDA is at a critical phase of growth, execution, and institutional strengthening. The Chief Executive Officer operates at the intersection of strategy, policy, capital mobilisation, partnerships, governance, and sector leadership across multiple geographies.

The Executive Associate to the CEO is a high trust, high responsibility role designed to act as a strategic enabler and execution partner to the CEO. This role goes beyond administrative support and requires exceptional judgement, structure, emotional intelligence, communication skills, and delivery discipline.

The successful candidate will significantly increase the CEO’s effectiveness by reducing cognitive load, strengthening execution, and ensuring strategic priorities move from intent to outcome.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Executive Associate to the CEO will:

  • Enable the CEO to operate at maximum strategic and operational effectiveness
  • Drive structure, discipline, and follow through across the CEO’s priorities
  • Act as a trusted coordination point between the CEO, Executive Management Team, Board, and external stakeholders
  • Support high level engagements with governments, development partners, investors, and private sector leaders

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Executive Support and Strategic Coordination

  • Manage the CEO’s calendar, priorities, travel, and engagements with a strong focus on strategic value
  • Prepare high quality briefing notes, background materials, talking points, and meeting packs
  • Track commitments, decisions, and action points arising from CEO engagements and ensure disciplined follow through
  • Support monitoring of delivery against the AMDA 2026–2030 strategy in coordination with internal teams

Communication and Presentation Support

  • Draft, review, and manage executive level written communications on behalf of the CEO
  • Support preparation of presentations for Board meetings, donor engagements, investor discussions, policy forums, and public events
  • Structure complex information into clear narratives, executive summaries, and decision ready materials
  • Support the CEO in high stakes presentations, including message refinement, rehearsals, and post engagement follow up

Project Management and Execution

  • Coordinate and manage multiple strategic and operational workstreams linked to the CEO’s office
  • Develop clear project plans, timelines, milestones, and tracking tools
  • Ensure projects and initiatives are delivered on time, with clarity of ownership and accountability
  • Anticipate risks, identify dependencies, and proactively resolve bottlenecks

Governance and Internal Coordination

  • Support preparation and coordination of Board and Management meetings as required
  • Track resolutions, decisions, and agreed actions and drive execution
  • Facilitate effective information flow between the CEO and internal teams

Stakeholder and External Engagement

  • Act as an interface between the CEO and senior stakeholders
  • Support coordination of high level meetings with governments, donors, investors, and partners
  • Represent the CEO and AMDA where appropriate with professionalism and discretion

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in the Arts, Sciences, or another relevant discipline
  • Minimum of five years professional experience, including direct support to senior executives or leadership teams
  • Authorisation to live and work in Nigeria, with role based in Abuja
  • Demonstrated experience working in fast paced, complex, and multi stakeholder environments
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and non verbal communication skills
  • High emotional intelligence, discretion, and sound judgement
  • Proven experience working closely with senior executives or Boards
  • Strong cultural intelligence and comfort operating in multinational and multicultural contexts
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally

Added Advantage

  • Experience in the energy sector, particularly distributed renewable energy
  • Professional working proficiency in French in addition to English
  • Experience working in international organisations, industry associations,, development focused institutions, consulting firms, etc.
