Curriculum Development Specialist
Job Description
- The Curriculum Development Specialist will be responsible for designing, reviewing, and improving academic and professional curricula to ensure alignment with institutional goals, industry standards, and learner needs.
- The role involves working closely with faculty, subject matter experts, and programme managers to develop high-quality, outcome-driven learning programmes.
Responsibilities
- Design, review, and update curricula for academic and professional programmes.
- Develop learning objectives, course outlines, lesson plans, and assessment frameworks.
- Ensure curricula align with regulatory, accreditation, and quality assurance standards.
- Collaborate with facilitators and subject experts to integrate best practices in teaching and learning.
- Incorporate innovative and learner-centred approaches, including blended and digital learning methods.
- Conduct needs assessments and curriculum evaluations to inform continuous improvement.
- Prepare curriculum documentation and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
Education:
Minimum of a PhD degree in Education, Curriculum Studies, Instructional Design, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Experience:
- 3–5 years’ experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or academic programme development.
- Experience working with higher education institutions, training organisations, or professional learning programmes is desirable.
Other Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Experience with accreditation or programme validation processes is an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Skills:
- Strong curriculum design and instructional design skills.
- Excellent analytical, writing, and documentation abilities.
- Good understanding of adult learning principles and competency-based education.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and learning management systems (LMS) is an advantage.
