Credit Officer
Job Summary
- The Credit Officer is responsible for evaluating loan applications, assessing the creditworthiness of clients, monitoring repayment activities, and ensuring compliance with the organization’s credit policies.
- The role involves maintaining a healthy loan portfolio, minimizing risk, and supporting clients with financial guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate loan applications and analyze applicants’ financial status, credit data, and repayment ability.
- Conduct risk assessment and recommend loan approvals or rejections based on established criteria.
- Monitor and follow up on loan repayments to minimize default rates.
- Maintain accurate records of credit applications, approvals, disbursements, and repayments.
- Conduct field visits to verify client information and assess collateral.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in credit analysis, loan processing, or banking.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and risk assessment skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with loan management software is an advantage.
