Consultant Radiologist
Job Responsibilities
- Interpret and report on a wide range of diagnostic imaging studies including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and mammograms.
- Ensure reports are transcribed and authorized on a continuing and timely basis.
- Work with other team members to mutually agreed work schedules and waiting list.
- Collaborate with referring clinicians to provide diagnostic insights and recommendations.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting in line with departmental protocols and turnaround times.
- Facilitate access to imaging and provide timely reporting that facilitates efficient patient flows and meets treatment objectives.
- Adhere to the protocols, guidelines and practice standards pertaining to the area of clinical practice.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
- Maintain high standards of patient care, safety, and confidentiality.
- Supervise and mentor junior radiology staff and radiographers as needed.
- Assist in the development and implementation of SOPs, quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated with advancements in radiology and participate in continuous professional development.
- Adhere to all regulatory and ethical standards in medical imaging and reporting.
- Make telephone contact with the referrer to advise of findings that require critical and urgent intervention.
- Collaborate with the Management, Radiologists, Radiographers in all matters pertaining to the general efficiency of the unit.
- Alternate with other Consultant Radiologists and act for them as required during short-term absences including weekend and off-duty leave.
- Identify training gaps and ensure that this is closed through an appropriate L&D program for junior medical staff as scheduled.
- To perform such other duties appropriate to the office as may be assigned to him/her by the HOD, Radiology.
Job Requirements
- Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree with 1-3 years’ clinical experience in Radiology – Post FWAC
- Experience in PACS radiology
- Experience within the private medical sector e.g. locum consultant level.
- Experience in interventional radiology
- The ability to work / report independently
- IT and computing skills
- Equipment Application knowledge
- Excellent written and oral skills
- Investigative skills
