Assistant Logistics Officer
Job Summary
- Assist the Logistics Manager in logistics operations by developing strategies for addressing logistical barriers, monitoring the use of materials and resources, and ensuring proper execution of events.
General Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish reports based on logistics movements and distribute them according to requirements
- Identify, mobilize resources, implement and report on special logistics operations
- Ensure that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained
- Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans the execution of events, coordinates drivers, vehicles, loads and journeys for the company
- Identifies and addresses barriers that decrease operational efficiency in the logistics department
- Supervises the maintenance of vehicles and handles other logistical issues such as driver management, vehicle insurance and registration is up to date.
- Making site visits and measuring other aspects such as quality assurance.
- Strategically plan the successful execution of projects with minimal cost and personnel
- Ensure adequate logistics preparedness through contingency planning and continuous logistics preparedness reviews.
- Ensure the company is in compliance with laws and regulations regarding transportation, including hazardous materials.
Key Performance Indicators
- Ensure all maintenance of company vehicles is properly carried out.
- Successful completion of projects within a deadline and budget
- Timeliness in planning, loading, and proper execution of the event
- Proper coordination of logistics operations
- Proper delegation of duties to subordinates, ensuring they are well-trained with up-to-date knowledge of all the driving codes, health safety measures, and road and traffic laws.
- Ensuring that all company vehicle documents are up to date
Qualifications & Education
- First Degree in Business Administration or a related Discipline
- Relevant professional certifications
- Should be well-versed in MS Office
- 2 years post-graduation experience
Knowledge & Skills required:
- Excellent communication and people management skills, as well as strong time management and budgeting skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, and an innovative approach to addressing issues related to logistics
- Should have good negotiating skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure
- Must be a team player
- High degree of accuracy and competency required.
