Agricultural Science Teacher
- The Agricultural Science Teacher will be responsible for teaching and mentoring secondary school students in Agricultural Science, following the Nigerian/Lagos State curriculum and preparing them for WAEC and NECO examinations. The teacher will promote practical agricultural skills, and inspire students to appreciate agriculture as both a science and a livelihood.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Agricultural Science lessons in line with Lagos State curriculum and WAEC/NECO standards.
- Teach topics such as crop production, animal husbandry, soil science, agricultural economics, and farm management.
- Incorporate Islamic values and ethics into lessons, emphasizing stewardship of the environment and responsible use of resources.
- Use diverse teaching methods (lectures, demonstrations, group work, field trips) to make learning interactive and practical.
Practical Skills Development
- Organize and supervise practical sessions in school farms, gardens, or laboratories.
- Guide students in hands-on agricultural activities such as planting, animal care, and farm record-keeping.
- Encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture, linking classroom knowledge to real-world applications.
Assessment & Examination Preparation
- Prepare students for internal assessments, WAEC, and NECO examinations.
- Design tests, assignments, and practical evaluations to monitor student progress.
- Provide constructive feedback and support to help students achieve academic excellence.
Classroom & Resource Management
- Maintain teaching materials, farm tools, and laboratory equipment.
- Ensure safety standards are observed during practical sessions.
- Develop lesson notes, teaching aids, and resource materials to enhance learning.
Collaboration & School Culture
- Work with colleagues to integrate Agricultural Science into cross-curricular projects.
- Support the school’s mission as a Muslim institution by modelling discipline, respect, and Islamic values.
- Participate in school assemblies, extracurricular activities, and agricultural clubs or competitions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science, Agricultural Education, or related field.
- Teaching qualification (TRCN certification preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Lagos State secondary school curriculum and WAEC/NECO requirements.
- Experience teaching Agricultural Science at secondary school level.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
